Dispute with a government body

Before Section 101 of the Legal Services Regulation Act was commenced in September 2024, barristers were only able to undertake work on the instructions of a solicitor. Now barristers can accept instructions from the public directly. This means that if you need legal advice or have a potential case, you can instruct an expert barrister directly without the need to go to a solicitor in the first place.
